Mission Focus: SAMS Ireland Prayer Points
Throughout the month of March we have been highlighting for the work of SAMS. It has been great to get updates of what God is doing through His people in South America! We will keep you updated with developments throughout the rest of the year. Below are some prayer points to help guide our prayers as we continue to lift the work of SAMS up to the Lord.
- (N.Argentina) Chris and Helena Wallis are long-term mission partners with the Anglican Diocese of N.Argentina. They have committed many years of work among the Wichi and Toba indian church communities. Chris’s latest work has been to produce a booklet in Wichi in the Abundant Life series. SAMS Ireland hopes to partner in producing these booklets which will benefit discipleship in the Chaco churches. Please pray for Chris and Helena and the Wichi church group leaders.
- (Chile) A new wave of infections (over 7000 daily cases) has meant that the capital, Santiago has gone into lockdown again. The good news is that over 50% of the population has received a vaccination.
- (Paraguay) Covid cases continue to rise in Paraguay and hospital beds and medicines are in very short supply. Please pray for those who are suffering with Covid, especially remembering Pastor Cefe and his wife Ana. Cefe is in hospital with Covid and pneumonia. (You may know their son Esteban who spent a year with SAMS in Ireland.) Please pray too for Pastor Lucho and his wife Estela. Estela is also in hospital with Covid although her condition seems to be stable.
- (Bolivia) Bishop Raphael asks for prayer for a new Diocesan lay training program to have a huge impact. Training (over 9 months) commenced last Saturday (20th March). Give thanks for the huge number of registrations. Pray also for the trainer/speaker Bishop Maurice Sinclair. The topic on Saturday past was getting the participants to make concrete their testimony of God’s call over their lives in Christ. Pray for the Holy Spirit to break through our timidity, fears and unbelief.
