Sundays at BPC
First Time Guest
Coming along to a new place for the first time can be a daunting prospect, so we do everything that we can to make your experience with us as enjoyable as possible. Each Sunday morning, we host worship services at 10.00am and 11.30am, with refreshments served between services, (11.00-11.30am). The church building is at 1 Castle Street, Bangor, BT20 4SU, to view a map, find directions or ask a question click here.
Getting Parked & Coming In
The entrance gate is on Castle Street, just opposite the Asda petrol station. There is some parking in the church grounds, although many people park in the Asda carpark, which is free and available for parking on Sunday mornings. As you enter our church building, you will be met by one of our Welcome Team, who will be glad to answer questions and help you find a seat.
10.00am Traditional Service
This service follows the format of Morning Prayer, according to the Church of Ireland Book of Common Prayer, with hymns accompanied by the organ and choir, and includes a bible-based talk, which is relevant and helpful for life today.
11.30am Contemporary Service
After welcome and a time of celebratory worship, led by the band, we communicate some of our key moments from the past week, core events for the coming weeks and the Bible reading. The children and young people then go to rooms within the building for their own age-relevant ministries , while adults remain for a bible-based talk, which is relevant and helpful for life today. At the end of the talk we reflect on what we have heard and respond. This may involve making a personal decision to follow Jesus and our Prayer Ministry Team is at hand to pray with you for strength to do that.
At both the 10.00am and 11.30am services, we make it straightforward for you to join in, by having all the words on a printed order of service or on the screens. Holy Communion, when we remember the death of Jesus Christ by sharing bread and wine, (alcohol-free), generally happens on the first Sunday of the month. During one of the hymns or songs, we express our thanks to God through our offering. Naturally, you don’t have to give. If you are a first time guest, we encourage you to simply let the plate pass you by. These services last for about an hour. Our ground and first-floor facilities, including toilets and baby-changing area, are accessible by wheelchair.
Just inside the main door, you will find a friendly face at the Welcome Desk – someone who will be very happy to answers questions and provide information about events, Newcomers Lunch, Alpha, Belonging and Life Groups.
